PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a remote cutting for replacing a structure in a nuclear reactor. ;SOLUTION: A discharge current is supplied to an electrode 1 of an underwater electric discharge machine actuator 4 via a twist-type electricity supply cable 5a and a capacitor and an object is cut under electric discharge machining conditions of discharge time 700-900μs, out-of-discharge time 100-300μs, peak current 150-200A, thereby making it possible to apply an electric discharge machining to an underwater remote cutting operation in a preventive maintenance technique relative to replacing.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
