PURPOSE:To provide a preventive and remedy for renal disease by using a specific nonapeptide as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent useful as a preventive and remedy for renal diseases such as glomerular nephritis, chronic nephritis, nephrosis syndrome, renal insufficiency, etc., contains the nonapeptide having the amino acid sequence of formula and known as serum thymic factor, or its ester or amide at the carboxyl group of its C-terminal asparagine or pharmacologically allowable salts or metal compounds of the above compounds as an active component. The drug exhibits excellent etiotropic preventive and remedying effect against renal diseases by activating an immune system or biophylactic system. It is absolutely non-toxic to organism and does not cause the problems such as antigenicity and anaphylactic shock.
