PURPOSE: To provide a vinyl acetate/ethylene copolymer emulsion which, when applied to a water-based lamination adhesive for paper, has excellent wet tack properties and tack range. ;CONSTITUTION: This copolymer emulsion comprises a vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer emulsion prepd. by aq. emulsion polymn. of vinyl acetate and ethylene in the presence of a polyvinyl alcohol stabilizing system, characterized in that the vinyl acetateethylene copolymer emulsion is prepd. in the presence of a stabilization system consisting essentially of (a) 0.2 to 1.5 wt.% low mol.wt., partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol, (b) 0.5 to 2.5 wt.% medium mol.wt., partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol, and (c) 1 to 4 wt.% medium mol.wt. and/or high mol.wt. fully hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol (wt.% being based on the vinyl acetate monomer).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
