Manufacturing method of 4,4-dimethoxy-2-butanone

PURPOSE: To obtain 4,4-dimethoxy-2-butanone in an industrially suitable way in high yield by acetalization of sodioformylacetone as feedstock in the form of a methanol solution using sulfuric acid. ;CONSTITUTION: Without the need for isolating from the reaction liquor sodioformylacetone produced by reaction between acetone, methyl formate and sodium methoxide in the form of a methanol solution, the resulting methanol solution is put to neutralization/acetalization. In this case, sulfuric acid is used as neutralizing/acetalizing agent, and the methanol solution of the sodioformylacetone and sulfuric acid is simultaneously fed into a reactor where they are mixed and made to react with each other, thus obtaining the objective 4,4-dimethoxy-2-butanone.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
