PURPOSE:To prevent information exchange with an incorrect IC card by comparing a terminal name previously stored in a card terminal with a card name transmitted from the IC card and deciding the coincidence of the sort or discrepancy. CONSTITUTION:Prior to the start of information exchanging operation between the card terminal and the IC card, an application name previously stored in the application ROM is transmitted and stored to/in a working RAM73 of the card terminal as a card discrimination code. A terminal application name previously stored in a terminal attribute ROM74 of the card terminal side is compared with the card application name stored in the RAM73 by a main controller 77, and when the discrepancy of the kind of the card from the terminal is decided, the IC card is ejected by controlling a reader/writer mechanical part 102.
