PURPOSE:To constitute an electronic editing system by providing a control means, which generates and sends an operation signal which controls the operation of another VTR, and a control means which controls the operation of a VTR on a basis of the operation control signal supplied from another VTR. CONSTITUTION:The operation mode of a VTR 19 is selected in accordance with turning-on operations of various switches in a switch part 20 and is controlled by a mode control circuit 21. Dial rotating information from a jog dial part 22 is given to the circuit 21, and the control signal picked up by a control head which constitutes a part of a servo device 23 is given to the circuit 21 also. Circuits 21 are connected with transmitting and receiving parts 24 of an editing related signal EDIT so that they can control VTRs of each other at the time of editing. Two VTRs 19 constituted in this manner are used to constitute the electronic editing system.
