A kit for assembling a three dimensional model of the solar system in its relative position with regard to the stars of the celestial sphere to be used as an aid for studying and teaching the basic concepts of astronomy, comprised of a rigid base (3), a rigid ring connected to the base at an angle to the horizontal plane enabling rotation of said ring around its axis, means for connecting the ring to the base at a desirable angle, flexible rods (5) and connectors for connecting the flexible rods to each other vertically and horizontally to create a spherical network of coordinates connected to said rigid ring, a rigid rod (8) connected perpendicularly to the base wherein the top of said rod is in the center of said spherical network of coordinates, a small circular plane (9) representing the observers' horizon fixed horizontally on said rigid rod, a large ring- shaped plane (10) with holes representing the solar system placed at an angle relating to the horizon, connected to the said network of coordinates, the small circular horizontal plane crossing through the center of the large ring-shaped plane, pegs representing the sun and planets to be inserted into the holes of said ring shaped plane.
