The subject of this patent application for an industrial invention is a grab bucket, or grab dredge, for automatically grabbing and dumping loose material and excavating ground which is not too hard, and which is provided with a hydrodynamic device for amplifying the lifting force into a bucket closing force with a multiplication factor of more than two. Actuated automatically by common jib cranes and/or with a single lifting cable, operating with the force of its own weight on favourable hydraulic linkage (multipliers), obtained by making the "driven" section/s of one or more manoeuvring hydraulic cylinders work with the "drive" section of the motor cylinder with a lower value than the drive cylinder, determining, with the aid of power accumulation apparatuses (hydrodynamic accumulators), an interactive system such as to effect the automatic opening of the bucket jaws in the dumping stage; to maintain them in this maximum opening position during the translation phase until it drops gravitationally in the excavation and/or loading zone; to re-enable the ascent of the bucket, because of the de-activation of the "motor" cylinder rod locking device, as an effect of the slackening of the jib and/or lifting cable, acting on the "motor" cylinder rod, causing the forced closure of the jaws and consequent excavating penetration of the same into the ground until their complete closure with a force which is all the greater the greater its penetration- cutting resistance and the weight of the material collected.
