METHOD FOR DIAGNOSIS OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE BY DETECTION OF ALANINE AMINOTRANSFERASE

Disclosed are methods for determining thepresence of periodontal disease in mammals. The methodsinclude the steps of (1) sampling ginqival crevicularfluid, (2) assaying the crevicular fluid sample bycolorimetric or other means to determine levels ofalanine aminotransferase present, and (3) correlatingthe levels of alanine aminotransferase present in thecrevicular fluid sample with a standard which isindicative of the presence of periodontal disease.
