In order to increase the stone chip resistance ofautomobile finishes aqueous electrocoating paints areused which are produced by the use of a pigment pastewhich contains as grinding resin an at least partiallyprotonated epoxide-amine adduct which is obtainable byreacting(A) a glycidyl ether of a polyphenol which contains onstatistical average at least one epoxide group inthe molecule, or a mixture of such glycidyl ethers,(B) a polyglycidyl ether of a polyol which contains onstatistical average more than 1.0 epoxide groups inthe molecule, or a mixture of such polyglycidylethers, and(C) a compound which contains a primary amino group inthe molecule or a mixture of such compoundswith each other in such a stoichiometric ratio that anepoxide-amine adduct is obtained in which on statisticalaverage at least 2.0 primary amino groups of the com-ponent (C) are incorporated in a chain-extending functionwith the formation of tertiary amino groups and theresultant epoxide-amine adduct is at least partiallyprotonated.
