The packaging is formed from a tearable synthetic film which envelopes an object (1). A straight incision (3) is made across the film (2) and an opening tab (5), comprising a fastening portion (6), is welded or stuck onto the film external face (3) covering the incision. A gripping tab (8) extends freely from the fastening portion. The opening tab is orientated and positioned on the film with its gripping tab perpendicular to the main direction of the incision. The incision is closer to the common edge (9) of the fastening portion and the gripping tab than the opposite end edge (11) of the fastening portion. The opening tab is formed from an adhesive label and the fastening portion is also provided with adhesive. The gripping tab is formed from a portion of the label where the adhesive is suppressed or neutralised.
