The present invention relates to a magnetic recording medium (12, 100) comprising a transparent substrate (14) and a magnetic laminated body provided on the substrate. The laminate includes a plurality of magneto-optical film layers (20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70) having a thickness of 10 nm or less. Adjacent magneto-optical film layers include Y2O335, 45, 55, and 65, which are mainly composed of silicon nitride.
