Production of pilot light on radiation thermometer used for process control and production - using twin-wire pyrometer whose current supply is split such that portion is diverted to power pilot lamp

The production of a pilot light on a radiation pyrometer involves using a light source, such as a light diode or laser diode (1.5), working through a switch (1.4) and pulse generator (1.3). Electrical energy from the current supply used for the double-wire pyrometer is diverted to activate this. The centre of the radiating surface being measured is identified by a light spot. The system is inexpensive to make and can be used for most radiation thermometers, particularly double-wire pyrometers.
