Control system for switched reluctance motor e.g. in motor vehicle fan or actuator drive - controls application of current to individual phases according to combination of rotor position sensor signals
The device has a magnetic circuit with one or more exciting coils on the stator poles. It also has a ferromagnetic rotor (11) and a circuit for each phase winding containing a switching transistor for connecting the ends of the phase winding to the two terminals of a current source. A control circuit arrangement controls the switching transistors in dependence on the position of the rotor (11). A rotor position generator (73) rotates in sync. with the rotor (11). The position generator (73) has a number of position generators which output signals corresponding to the rotor position. It also has a control part (63) which controls the transistors in dependence on the sensor output signals to apply current to the individual stator windings. the control part (63) has a programmable logic module (75) which analyses the sensor signals according to their logic state. This then triggers application of current to each individual phase for a predetermined combination of the sensor signals.
