Single use syringe comprises cylinder (2) for a medicament and a push rod (3) which can move in the cylinder. The needle (1) has a rear end which acts as a fixing section (11). The push rod has a front end with a rubber material cover. The needle has a holding groove. The push rod contacts the rear end of the needle when pushed fully into the syringe and when it is pulled back into the cylinder, the needle contacts an inner cylinder wall and falls into a chamber. The used needle can be retained for disposal.
