The pointer instrument has a driven pointer (2) which is rotatable on an axle (1) perpendicular to the front plate and mounted on the side of the plate facing the observer. The axle has a rotary drive arranged on the side of the plate remote from the observer. The pointer has a magnetic component (17) which can be driven to move about the rotation axis by a magnetic field generated by the rotary drive. The magnetic component is mounted in the region of the pointer hub (10) and approximately symmetrically w.r.t. the rotation axis.
