The method involves using a sensor arranged in a coordinate system outside the shaft, for measuring a passing of a mark on the outer flight circle of the crank section of the shaft, at a defined angle position (CL) (measuring position). The angle position of a coordinate system (x',y') rotating with the geometric central axis of the shaft is determined (Bo) (reference position) simultaneously. The difference angle (BF) between the measuring position (a) and the reference position (Bo) is formed. The momentary torque introduced in the shaft is calculated from the known rigidity (EI) of the shaft, the crank circle radius (k), the calculated difference angle (BF) and if necessary from a proportionality factor, determined experimentally for the crank.
