PURPOSE: To obtain a rare earth element-Fe-N base permanent magnet in high density and performances by a method wherein the nitrogen intruded compound particles in Th2 type crystalline structure represented by a specific structural formula are pressed-powder-molded or impact compressed while impressing a pulse magnetic field after performing the filling up step. ;CONSTITUTION: This rare earth element-Fe-N base permanent magnet assuming Th2Zn17 type chrystalline structured phase as a main phase is represented by a structural formula of T100-X-YRxNy (where T: Fe or a part of Fe substituted by one or two kinds of Co or Cr not exceeding 20%, R: contains one or two of all the rare earth elements including Y and Sm at least exceeding 50% of R). Furthermore, X, Y representing atomic % satisfy the inequalities of 9≤×≤12, 10≤y≤16 in the structural formula also having the apparent density exceeding 90% of the true density.
