Rapid computer-aided determination of metals in industrially-polluted waste water

The process carries out rapid determination of metals in polluted water, including industrial waste water. The sample to be analysed is mixed with a reagent comprising an ethanolic solution of dithizone (diphenylthiocarbazone), which is soluble in water. A spectrophotometric analysis of the colour difference resulting from mixing reagent and sample, is then carried out. From the results of this analysis, the concentrations of the metallic elements of interest are calculated. Also claimed is the reagent for use in the above process.
