When a sensor 2 detects that the pressure of the hydraulic fluid in a motor vehicle brake system 1 is above a predetermined level, a switch 3 causes a clocking circuit 4 to flash the hazard lights 5 and the brake lights 6 thereby indicating to other road users that the vehicle is decelerating at a greater than average rate.
