PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject medicinal preparation which contains a specific compound that specifically inhibits the synthesis of heat-shock protein of a specific molecular weight as an active ingredient and can effectively treat antoimmune diseases such as type I diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis. ;SOLUTION: This medicinal preparation contains an aloin derivative represented by the formula (R¹ is a hexose residue remaining after removing the hydroxyl group in the 1-position of the hexose; R² is a 1-3C hydroxyalkyl) as an active ingredient to inhibit the synthesis of proteins belonging to the heat-shock protein group with a molecular weight of 57-68 kilodalotn (addreviated to protein in HSP family). The compound of the formula is typically 10-glucopyranosyl-1,8-dihydroxy-3-(hydroxymethyl)-9(10H)-anthracenone (aloin). The aloin is preferably extracted from Aloe (Aloe ferox Miller). This preparation can contain the aloin derivative in an amount of 0.01-99wt.% preferably 0.1-80wt.%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
