PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain spike-shaped noise from being generated in a detection wave of an ion current detecting device of a spark plug for ion current detection. ;SOLUTION: This spark plug holds an insulator 32 inside of a mounting bracket 31 and holds a center electrode 33 inside of the insulator, one end 321 and the other end 322 of the insulator 32 are exposed from one end 311 and the other end 312 of the insulator 32, one end 331 of the center electrode 33 is exposed from one end 321 of the insulator 32, an opposite grounding electrode 35 spacing one end 331 of the center electrode 33 and a discharge gap 38 is fixed to one end 311 of a mounting bracket 31, and an ion current flowing in the discharge gap 38 is detected. In this case, a filling layer 37 filled with a silicone resin that is a material having dielectric strength and insulation resistance greater than air between the other end 312 of the mounting bracket 31 and the insulator 32.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
