PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance denitrification efficiency while constituting equipment relatively compactly without requiring adding chemicals such as methanol. ;SOLUTION: A zeolite adsorbing tank 2, a nitrification tank 3, a denitrification tank 4 and a re-aeration tank 5 are used and a zeolite supported carrier formed by coating a carrier composed of polyvinyl alcohol and having specific gravity of 1.05-1.3 with zeolite is added to the zeolite adsorbing tank 2. Ammonia nitrogen in raw water is adsorbed by the zeolite supported carrier and sent to the next-stage denitrification tank 4 through the nitrification tank 3 to be mixed with the raw water containing org. matter sent from the zeolite adsorbing tank 2 to perform denitrification reaction utilizing the org. matter. The zeolite supported carrier regenerated in adsorbing function is returned to the zeolite adsorbing tank 2 and circulation is performed between the zeolite adsorbing tank 2 and the denitrification tank 4.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
