ANTIFOULING PAINT COMPOSITION, COATING FILM FORMED FROM THIS COMPOSITION, METHOD FOR PREVENTING FOULING BY USING THIS COMPOSITION, AND HULL, UNDERWATER AND WATER-SURFACE STRUCTURES OR FISHERY MATERIAL COATED WITH THE FILM
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antifouling paint composition having an excellent antifouling effect on a hull, underwater and water-surface structures, etc., and excellent in storage stability by blending pyridine-triphenylborane, copper rhodanide, and an inorganic dehydrating agent and/or zinc pyrithione. SOLUTION: This composition contains usually 0.5-20 wt.% pyridine-triphenylborane, 0.5-30 wt.% copper rhodanide, 0.5-10 wt.% inorganic dehydrating agent (suitably gypsum anhydride and a synthetic zeolite based adsorbent), and 0.1-10 wt.% zinc pyrithione. Desirably, the composition also contains 5-20 wt.% base resin(s) comprising a vinyl resin and/or a silylated resin. In addition to the base resin(s), a water-soluble resin comprising, e.g. rosin or a monocarboxylic acid resin (or its salt), etc., may be blended in an amount of about 2-15 wt.% on a solid basis with the composition. The use of pyrindine-triphenylborane and copper rhodanide together as the constituents gives a synergistic effect so that the composition reveals an antifouling performance superior to that in the case wherein these constituents are each used alone.
