METHOD FOR SCREENING ABNORMITY BEFORE BIRTH OF UNBORN BABY AND DEVICE FOR ITS PURPOSE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct the effect of variation among reagents by measuring concen tration of a marker of each pregnant woman for a specific period and compar ing respective concentration measurement results so as to obtain a standardized concentration. ;SOLUTION: As to a mother's body serum marker, a difference of a mean marker concentration between abnormal pregnancy and normal pregnancy, as required, as to each marker concentration corrected according to age of pregnant women for a period of pregnancy (period A) is less than 20%. However, the difference above between the abnormal pregnancy and normal pregnancy for other period (period B) is more than 50%. There is at least three weeks between the periods A and B, The marker concentration of each pregnant woman is measured for the periods A and B and a standardized concentration is obtained by comparing the concentration measurement results. The standardized concentration measured as above is compared with the standardized concentration similarly measured as to a mass of women of abnormal pregnancy and a mass of women of normal pregnancy.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
