PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the wire for the cladding by welding to the white metal by laminating or covering one kind of selected hard metallic component layer or over out of Ag, Cu, Sb, Te, Cr, Ca, Cd, Co and As on the outer periphery of the core material of a soft white metal wire which has been made to a fine wise. ;SOLUTION: A first process is a lubrication-free hot extrusion method and the core material is formed. While heating to 140 to 150°C a casting billet 1 formed by a soft white metal component to which a hard metallic alloy component such as Ag, Cu, etc., has not been added, which has been enclosed in a cylindrical heating container 4, it is extruded into a die 3 by a high pressure of about 700kg/cm2, and the core material 20 is extruded. In a second process, the surface of the core material 20 is covered by a hard metallic layer 21 consisting of a hard metallic component. After immersing the core material 20 in a plating bath 25 which is a plus electrode, making the core material 20 a cathode, a hard metallic layer 21 is electrolyzed and extracted on the surface of the core material 20.
