PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate undesired display and useless reading and to attain high reading speed by providing an output of index display data for a frame having already been picked up in the case of outputting data to a host device. SOLUTION: A CPU 1 receives magnetic information and a film image or the like read by controlling a magnetic signal processing circuit 5, a signal processing circuit 7, and an A/D converter 8 and stores them to a memory 2. An IF circuit 3 outputs line data stored in the memory 2 to a host computer 19. Furthermore, various commands and information or the like of a monitor menu for frame designation or the like fed from the host computer 19 are given to the CPU 1. The host computer 19 is provided with a monitor being a display device, a key board and a mouse being input devices, and a printer being an output device and displays the image data received from the I/F circuit on the monitor. Moreover, the received command is given to the IF circuit 3. Through the constitution above, the CPU 1 mainly copes with the film information acquisition means, the resistance means, the setting means, the discrimination means and the data generating means.
