PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the subject virus causing damage on a green pepper in high sensitivity by carrying out RT-PCR of RNA of the green pepper with a primer based on coat protein gene of pepper mild mottle virus. ;SOLUTION: A pepper mild mottle virus, which causes a large damage by infecting a green pepper by infection thereof and is rated as one of cause of yield decrease of the green pepper, is detected in a short time and in high sensitivity by carrying out RT-PCR using reverse transcriptase(RT) by using RNA extracted from the tissue of the green pepper and two kinds of oligonucleotide primers comprising the oligonucleotide synthesized based on the sequence of 5' side untranslation region of a gene coding a coat protein of pepper mild mottle virus, and the oligonucleotide synthesized based on the sequence of the translation region or 3' side untranslation region of the gene.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
