PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superfine particulate coal which can increase the activity of coal, conduct light absorption/conversion to heat and heat absorption with high efficiency, and is useful for applications such as an extreme infrared radiation irradia tion material by conducting pulverization and fine dispersion of coal in a wt. average particle diameter (average particle diameter d50) in the range of 0.01 to 1μm. ;SOLUTION: A coal powder material is further pulverized by means of a bead mill 1 to produce a superfine particulate coal. The bead mill 1 comprises: a central rotating shaft 2; a rotor 3 connected to the rotating shaft 2; and a stator 4 as a fixing member, wherein the rotor 3 and the stator 4 are alternately provided with respective blades 6 facing each other. A mixture of the coal powder material with water, together with zirconia beads (diameter: about 0.3 to 0.5mm), is fed into the bead mill through a feed port 5, pulverized in the course of passage through between the rotor 3 and the stator 4 and between the blades 6, and taken out through a product withdrawal port 7. When the coal powder material cannot be pulverized in a single pass, it is passed a plurality of times through the bead mill.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
