PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide coal a lifting/carrying installation failure state monitoring method and device capable of simply checking the cause of a failure in a constitutional equipment controlled by a sequencer without decoding a sequencer program. SOLUTION: The failure state monitoring device for a coal lifting/carrying installation can simply detect the cause of a failure without decoding the sequencer program by inputting the ON/OFF signal of a contact for the sequencer 12 to a storage device 14 correspondingly to the cause of the failure, hierarchically storing the ON/OFF signal in the device 14, displaying hierarchy including the cause of the failure and its upper side hierarchy on a display device as a failure and inspecting the cause of the failure by repeating development on the display from an upper layer to a lower layer by the use of a mouse 17.
