PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a catalyst for gas-phase contact oxidation reaction of hydrocarbons by which acrylonitrile, acrylic acid, maleic anhydride, etc., useful for industrial raw materials can be prepared at high yield. ;SOLUTION: This catalyst is produced by immersing a mixed metal oxide having a formula MoaVbXxZzOn in a solution containing one or more elements selected from tungsten, molybdenum, chromium, zirconium, titanium, niobium, tantalum, vanadium, boron, bismuth, tellurium, palladium, cobalt, nickel, iron, phosphorus, silicon, rare earth elements, alkali metals, and alkaline earth metals. In the formula, X stands for Te and/or Sb, Z for one or more elements selected from Nb, Ta, W, Ti, Al, Zr, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Rh, Ni, Pd, Pt, Bi, B, In, and Ce, and in the case a=1, b=0.01-1, x=0.01-1, and z=0-1, and n is a value determined based on the oxidation states of other elements.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
