PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clearly print a character and a figure or the like on the surface of the barrel of a writing implement by an ink-jet printer method by providing a water base ink absorption layer on the surface of the barrel and injecting the fine particles of water base ink for the water base ink absorption layer to print the character and the figure or the like. ;SOLUTION: The barrels 1 of pencils are fitted into the grooves 8 of a pallet 7 and a printer 9 is connected to a computer incorporated with a printer driver. When the pallet 7 is placed on the pallet introduction stand 28 of the printer 9 and lightly pushed forward, both end parts in the cross direction are on a pair of timing belts 20, 21 and the pallet 7 is sent forward. When the pallet 7 is advanced in the necessary amount, a limit switch being a sensor 36 for pallet detection is brought into contact with the elevation parts 37 of the pallet 7 and detects them. A control part receiving the signal performs program searching of a printing position and printing is started. A print head 35 repeats reciprocating movement in the cross direction of the pellet 7 to perform printing on the surfaces of the barrels 1 of pencils.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
