PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately adjust the resistance of the heat generating section of a thin film thermal print head by irradiating the surface of a thin film resistor with laser light radiated from a solid-state laser. ;SOLUTION: Electrode layers 6a and 6b are successively formed on a thin film resistor 5 so that the resistor 5 an be exposed over a prescribed extend on the top of a partial glaze 4 and the exposed part can function as a heat generating section 7. The section 7 is irradiated with laser light having an appropriate amount of energy emitted from a semiconductor laser-excited solid- state laser. The resistance of the section 7 is changed by accumulating the number of irradiation shorts of the laser light. In addition, the resistance of the section 7 can be adjusted to a desired value by selecting the number of irradiation shots.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
