摘要

PURPOSE:To provide a glaze capable of generating a heavy touch and various depressions and projections such as IRABO (a kind of the depressions and projections) on the surfaces of roof tiles and used for pottery roof tiles by adding a prescribed amount of silica sand having a relatively uniform particle size to a slurry containing a prescribed amount of a viscous substance. CONSTITUTION:The above-mentioned glaze is prepared by adding 5-50wt.% of silica sand having a high silica purity and a relatively uniform particle size as an unevenness-forming material to the conventional glaze for pottery roof tiles and adjusting the mixture to an optimal viscosity for each particle size of the silica sand. New unevenness patterns can be thereby regenerated in good regenerability and uniformly on the glazed surface of a pottery roof tile in dependence upon the viscosity and mixing ratio of the silica sand. Additives for the conventional glazes can be utilized as such and the color of the pottery can be arbitrarily changed, thereby permitting to give a large change to the glazed surface of the pottery in dependence on the combination of the color and the unevenness.
