PURPOSE: To set the allowable axial tension of a strut at a low value, and to use the strut at low cost by adjusting the length of the strut so as to offset the change of the length of the strut due to a temperature change and removing the alteration of axial tension to the strut generated by the temperature change of the strut. ;CONSTITUTION: A temperature sensor 40 fitted and fixed on the top face side of a strut 16 measures the surface temperature of the strut 16, and outputs the detecting data to a controller 50. On the other hand, an axial tension meter 60 mounted and fastened at the place of the side face of the strut 16 measures strain in the axial direction generated in the strut 16 as axial tension, and outputs the detecting data to the controller 50. The controller 50 drives the electro-hydraulic pump 22 of a hydraulic jack 20 on the basis of detecting data from the temperature sensor 40 and the axial tension meter 60, controls the quantity of a plunger 24 expanded and contracted, and adjusts the overall length L₁ of the hydraulic jack 20. Accordingly, the allowable axial tension of the strut is set at a low value, and the strut at low cost can be used.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
