PURPOSE: To provide, in a container receiving oxide single crystals and heat treating them, a heat treatment container capable of holding an equilibrium condition f steam in the container and further heat treating a large number of oxide single crystals. ;CONSTITUTION: A container 8 consists of a body 2 equipped with a space to hold oxide single crystals 7 and a lid 1 mounted on a rim 2a of the body 2. Surface roughness Ra of a contact surface between the lid 1 and the body 2 is ≤3μm (more preferably ≤1μm) and waviness of the surface is ≤30μm (more preferably ≤10μm).
