PURPOSE: To obtain the high image quality television receiver with 2-screen display function in which an image has high image quality independently of a master screen or a slave screen. ;CONSTITUTION: A video signal processed by an antenna 401, a tuner 405 and a detection circuit 406 is given to a synchronizing separator circuit 407, from which a synchronizing signal is separated and a horizontal synchronizing signal having a double frequency is generated. A deflection circuit 502 drives a scanning system based on the synchronizing signal. A scanning line conversion circuit 501 is provided with a means compression the image in the horizontal direction, a means storing the video signal to compress the image in the horizontal direction and a means selecting an image outputted on a same screen and displays two screen patterns simultaneously onto a cathode ray tube via a video processing circuit 403.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
