PURPOSE:To prevent the mixing of unpolished rice with unhulled rice by a method wherein the presence of grain is detected by a grain detection sensor and a control motor is operated according to the detection of grain to change the angle of inclination of a sorting plate and a blank part is necessarily formed to the end of an unhulled rice taking-out port on the non-shaking gathering side thereof. CONSTITUTION:When grain is supplied from a supply port 6 and a sorting plate 1 is reciprocally moved in a left-and-right direction, unpolished rice 18 is taken out of an unpolished rice taking-out port 13 and a rice mixture is taken out of a rice mixture taking-out port 14 and unhulled rice is taken out of an unhulled rice taking-out port 15. At this time, when the grain is shaken to be gathered at a high level on a shaking gathering side 4, a grain detection sensor 16 detects the absence of the grain and the inclination of the sorting plate 1 is acutely controlled by a control motor 17. When the grain is shaken to be gathered at a high level on a non-shaking gathering side 5, the grain detection sensor 16 detects the presence of the grain and the inclination of the sorting plate 1 is gently controlled. At this time, the sorting plate 1 is controlled so as to necessarily form a blank part 20 on the non- shaking gathering side 5. By this method, unpolished rice 18 is shaken to be gathered on the shaking gathering side 4 and the mixing of the unpolished rice 18 with unhulled rice 19 can be prevented.
