The invention refers to a double maize hybrid (Zea mays L. convar. Dentiformis x indurata) named "Ciclon", which is obtained by cross-breeding 4 inbred lines, according to the formula (Lc.434 x Lc.435) x (Lc.452 x Lc.451) and is recommended to be cultivated in the areas III and IV of favourable temperature in Transylvania and Moldavia, as well as in the hill and field regions in the south and west of the country, for late sowing, or in successive irrigated cropping. The plants are 277 cm high, with yellow anthers and pink stigmata. The cob is inserted at a height of 82 cm, the pith is red, the cob weight is 167 g, the weight of the grains on the cob is 109 g, the grain yield of the cob is 79.1 percent, and the grain has a glassy appearance. The weight for 1000 grains is 308 g and their hectolitric weight is 67.2 kg. The maize hybrid is resistant to drought and intense heat, falling and stalk breaking, and it is also resistant to corn smut (Ustilago maydis) and Fusarium. Its vegetation period is 109 to 118 days. The grains contain 11.03 percent protein, 71.12 percent starch and 4.53 percent fats. The hybrid generates average productions of 7537 to 7876 kg/hectare.
