The invention refers to a variety of lettuce called "Salma" which is designed for field cropping in the summer-autumn season, and is obtained by pedigree selection from a hybrid combination. It is recommended for cultivation in lettuce favourable areas. The "Salma" variety of lettuce has a middle to large sized rosette, which forms heads that are 400-520 g in weight, are very compact and have no bitter taste. The leaves are green-yellowish at the exterior of the head and yellow in the middle. This variety displays tolerance to Bremia lactucae (natural infection) and good "day length" resistance. This variety has a production capacity of 30-35 t/hectare.
