In an apparatus (10) for transportingpackaged food products from a product loading station(A) to an unloading station (B), series of containers(20) are entrained by a drive arrangement (12) along aclosed-loop path and temporarily halted at the loadingstation (A) and the unloading station (B) for loadingthe products onto the containers (20) and unloading theproducts from the containers (20), respectively; eachcontainer (20) has a hitch member arranged to rest onthe drive arrangement (12) in a freely slidable mannertherealong and, disposed in the closed-loop path, thereis at least one accelerating device (25) applying aforce to each container (20) effective to impose on thecontainer (20) an acceleration with respect to thespeed of the drive arrangement (12).
