The invention concerns a device for recording the distance travelled by a motor vehicle, comprising means for measuring the distance (5, 7, 8) travelled by the vehicle and means for recording the distance travelled. The recording means comprise at least two registers (11, 12), control means (10) enabling the user to select a register, the distance measuring means increasing by increments the register selected by the control means (10).
