The invention relates to an element (54) secured against fire outbreaks, such as, for example, an item of upholstery, a component, an installation element, a decorative element or similar. Said element (54) secured against fire outbreaks is provided with a component for fighting fire outbreaks which consists of water for fire-fighting bonded to a carrier material. Said carrier material preferably consists of a superabsorbent powder which when combined with the water for fire-fighting swells to form a gel. The invention also relates to methods for producing such an element (54) secured against fire outbreaks. According to said methods the component for fighting fire outbreaks is first placed into a casting mould, preferably in the shape of a thin storage volume element (10) containing the gel of superabsorbent powder and fire-fighting water. Thereafter, a reaction mixture is added to the casting mould, which foams in the closed mould and thereby produces the element secured against fire outbreaks (54).
