Apparatus for drying coated web material (12) and preferably moving web material comprises a nozzle (4), means (17) for supplying air to the nozzle and means to distribute the air through the nozzle substantially uniformly across the web width, the nozzle arcing from a position perpendicular with respect to the plane of the web to a position substantially parallel with respect to the plane of the web, the nozzle having an exit slot (1) wherein the air is discharged from the exit slot at an angle (2) of between 1° and 45° with respect to the plane of the web.
