The floor has a longitudinal tunnel (5) for transmission components and a transverse drive strut extending across the open side of the tunnel. Two opposite support profiles (10) are fastened to the strut (6) via a connection, which has higher strength than the fastening of the strut on the tunnel. Each support profile has a stiff support leg (11) extending along a side wall (9) of the tunnel and parallel to it at a small distance. The support leg extends over at least part of the length of the strut. The front and rear end faces of each profile have a stiffener flange (13), which extends in transverse vehicle direction. Each flange has a full-length projecting stiffener rib (14).
