Fluororubber, a process for the production and its use and a process for the production of fluoroelastomer moldings and / or coatings

Fluorinated rubber comprises (a) vinylidene fluoride and optionally further fluorine-containing and/or non-fluorine-containing monomers; and (b) compound(s) of di-iodomethane, 1,2-di-iodo-1,1-difluoroethane, 1-iodo-2-bromo-1,1-difluoroethane, 1-bromo-2-iodo-1,1-difluoroethane and/or 1,2-dibromo-1,1-difluoroethane. At least 80% of the terminal groups of formula -CH2-X (I), where X = bromine and/or iodine, exhibit contents of iodine and/or bromine of 1-5 wt.% and a complex viscosity at 100 degrees C and omega of 6.3 s-1 of 0.01-30 kPa.s, and a temperature index, calculated as quotients of the viscosities at 40 and 100 degrees C, of 3- 250. Also claimed are (i) preparation of the fluorinated rubber; and (ii) preparation of fluorocarbon polymer moulded articles and/or coatings.
