Reactive, processable fluoro-elastomers are obtd. by mechanical sheering of (A) a fluoro-elastomer consisting of (i) units of a fluorinated 2-8C alkene opt. contg. further halogen atoms and opt. also units of perfluorinated vinyl ethers, non-fluorinated olefins and/or non-fluorinated vinyl esters and (ii) 0.006-0.1 mol.% iodine-and/or bromine-contg. residues covalently bonded to the terminal C atom of the polymer chain; (b) 0.3-10 wt.% cpds. having (i) a double capable of addn. to polymeric radical fragments as well as a pi-electron system either contg. with the double band or having easily removable H atoms in oily (or benzyl positions and opt. (ii) further double bonds or reactive gps.; and opt. also (c) further auxiliaries.
