The laser light barrier system in addition is provided with a safety system, which responds in a determined safety distance before the carrier (1,2,3) of the laser light barrier system. The carrier housing consists of an extended basic housing and two block housings (3,4). One of these contains a transmitter and one of a receiver. The laser beam extends at a distance from and approximately parallel to the basic housing. At least one stop element (9) is arranged at the carrier housing, which is held in a determined position by a locating system (10,11) such that with a collision with a moving tool or workpiece, releases to operate an electric switch (14,15) to influence emergency STOP to bring machine to standstill.
