The plate has a top surface structure detectable by a blind person using a white stick. The top structure is constructed from a majority of two opposing plate sides (14,16) with approximately parallel running first ridges (10) and a majority of horizontal ridges running at approximately (90) degrees to the first. The first and second ridges lie in a common horizontal plane. The structured top surfaces are divided into at least two sections (4,6), whereby the majority of first and second ridges run in these sections. Each section takes up at least half of the structured top surface of the plate. A separating line (8) runs between the two sections approximately parallel to two opposing plate sides.
