The appts. (1) includes a movable sealing plate (13) with a rubber surface (13a), a vacuum pump (22) and a test path (3). The test path is provided with a variable length rubber mat (4) and is placed on the supporting surface to seal the base of the tube.A vacuum is set up inside a test tube using the vacuum pump via a line (20) passed through the sealing plate. The appts. can be moved along the test path on a guide, pref. a rail guide (25), laid alongside the test path. A vertical strut (8) mounted on the carriage which moves on the rail also supports a transverse carrier (9) from which the sealing plate is suspended via a pref. hydraulic limb (14) enabling continuous vertical movement.
